State of the Art MRI Scanner Princess of Wales Hospital

A comprehensive refurbishment of the MRI Suite to meet the newest HTM Compliance Standards. New mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems with an upgraded power supply, enhanced ventilation, new air handling unit and emergency IPS electrical systems. Works included the installation of the first State of the Art MRI Scanner in Wales with the first TELEMED projector system with illuminated panels of blue sky, cherry blossom and sunshine to help patients with claustrophobia to relax.

This complex and critical upgrade was delivered with precision, safety, and minimal disruption to hospital operations. The hospital underwent a significant roof upgrade of more than 10,000 square metres of roofing to improve infrastructure resilience and energy efficiency. As the appointed electrical contractor we played a critical role in ensuring the electrical systems were safely and effectively integrated into the new roofing structure.

CT Scanner

We have recently installed this £1.3m 40gigabyte CT Scanner which is 40 times faster than the highest spec PC, meaning it is capable of scanning a single heartbeat. Together with an existing scanner the hospital is expected to carry out more than 22,000 scans a year. Enabling waiting list to come down and for cancer patients to have access to more advanced diagnostic tests.

The state-of-the-art unit provides a warm and welcoming space for people with cancer and offers support for those needing palliative care. The eight bed unit has a theme of 'bringing the outdoors in'. It features unique artwork that creates a calming environment.
